“PUSH ‘O VER” Prove al vero, non solo simulazioni numeriche

Progetto di ricerca per la verifica sperimentale al vero di moderne tecnologie antisismiche per il miglioramento di edifici in muratura

Il progetto in breve

The “Push ‘o ver” Project is a research initiative aimed at testing, in the field, the effectiveness of modern anti-seismic technologies for upgrading masonry buildings. The name, with a playful Anglo-Neapolitan twist, can be read as “push for real”, highlighting the ambition to go beyond numerical simulations and move towards full-scale testing.

Born from the collaboration of three engineering firms – DOING Ingegneria, EAS Ingegneria and Di Emidio Progetti – the project involved several key partners, including:

  • Impresa Edile Gaspari Gabriele Srl of Ascoli Piceno, responsible for demolition and reconstruction works
  • Fibre Net S.p.A. of Pavia di Udine, which supplied the CRM system for seismic strengthening and the measurement instruments
  • CMP Srl of Osimo, which built the steel reaction frame for the loading system
  • University of Camerino and ENEA, which provided technical and scientific support, monitoring and interpreting the building’s behaviour during the tests

Full-scale field testing

For the real push-over tests, a masonry building in the Municipality of Castel di Lama (AP), damaged by the 2016 earthquake, was used as a case study. The building was divided into two portions:

  • one strengthened using the CRM system for seismic upgrading
  • the other repaired with more traditional retrofit techniques

Dynamic tests and full-scale push-over tests were carried out up to collapse to assess the effectiveness of the strengthening strategies. The results showed a significant improvement in the seismic performance of the reinforced portion of the building.
